If you access the pages and digital content on the Internet of any nature of La Nación and Subsidiaries, hereinafter "GN", you accept the rules established in these conditions of use as well as the practices and uses applicable to these contents, which constitute a contractual relationship between you and GN.

GN may change these conditions at any time. It may change, add, remove, edit, suspend or discontinue partially or totally any product and/or service, as well as any link or hyperlink that has been established. It may also unilaterally modify, eliminate or add any clause of this document and said change will be considered effective and in force from the moment it is updated on the respective site.

The designs and content of the sites, as well as any digital application "software" that is on their platforms, trademarks, domain names, logos and/or advertising signals, are their property and may not be used by third parties without the written authorization of a duly authorized legal representative of GN. It is not permitted to copy, modify or reverse engineer, partially or totally, the content of the sites.

GN may impose restrictions, limits, access or charges on the products and/or services, as part of its business decisions, without this representing or being taken as a claim, complaint, loss, harm or damage suffered by anyone who legally accesses the respective sites.

GN's content is protected by Costa Rican intellectual property laws and international treaties. Content owned by third parties is licensed to GN and it is therefore entitled to use it and oppose any misuse.

Commercial uses are not permitted unless expressly authorized in writing and under certain conditions, which must be done through a legal representative with authority to do so. For academic purposes, duly verified, where it serves as an informative source, it must contain the corresponding credits.

In the case of content licensed by third parties, which is not the property of GN, no download is authorized, even for personal, academic or informational purposes. For this reason, if the content to be used is produced, distributed, sold or in any way licensed by an international news agency or a third party, the authorization for the download and authorization must be granted by the owner of the rights.

GN does not allow its content to be used for political or electoral propaganda, or to complement, advertise or refer to other websites outside of GN. Nor is it permitted to carry out campaigns with warlike, religious or sectarian, creed or racial content or to promote crime, or to use injurious, slanderous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic content, etc.; content that violates our legal system, in such a way that it offends others or its publication or dissemination is contrary to law.

Anyone who commits such abuses will have their registration information, including their IP address, handed over to the relevant competent authorities if required, and will immediately lose access to the system.

Content is understood to mean, for example, and without prejudice to other forms, all those designs, computer programs, applications, opinion articles, columns, photographs, illustrations, cartoons, videos, audios, graphics, drawings, infographics, blogs, chats, interviews, forums, cartoons (features), or "podcasts" that are produced by GN or licensed to it. Therefore, their storage, reproduction, reverse engineering, distribution, modification, alteration, disclosure, sale, transmission or transfer to another site or sites, to other news or information groups, whether press, radio or television, to mailing lists or electronic bulletins, networks, or servers, by any means or support, current or new, that allows storing or connecting to an electronic or printed data storage system. Nor is it permitted to use them to create other types of products or services based on them (derived work) causing unfair competition and economic damage. The contents and systems are protected by copyright and are reserved rights of GN.

The links that refer to another page or service outside of GN are included in our sites as a benefit or complement to our services to the user community; but GN does not assume responsibility for their content. The links are offered to provide a better service to the user, but in case any of these contents need to be downloaded, their use must be previously authorized in accordance with the terms of use, privacy policies and prohibitions of each site, whose responsibility for the content will be of the site, not of GN. Likewise, at the strict discretion of the technical or journalistic staff of GN, they may be eliminated at any time or replaced by others without prior notice or any liability on the part of GN.

Contents such as images, videos, audio, editorial, informative or opinion material sent by users will become the property of GN. Users, by sending these contents, guarantee that they are the owners of them and that for this reason, they do not violate any rights of third parties, whether these are natural persons or legal entities, and therefore transfer them to GRUPO NACION to use them in the way it deems appropriate, and may even sell or transfer them for any reason to written, radio, television or digital media, within or outside the country, now or in the future. Likewise, if you consider your posting unnecessary as part of the content or because it violates this regulation, you may edit or delete them, totally or partially, without this implying any liability for GN or claim by the user, who accepts these conditions from the moment you send, upload or post the content.

By submitting or posting content on GN's sites, the user guarantees that such content is free of any type of complaint, claim or demand, does not violate image or copyright rights and, therefore, guarantees that he/she is the owner of such content, thereby releasing GN from any claim relating to it, which he/she assigns irrevocably, permanently, free of charge, perpetually, exclusively, worldwide, for the reproduction in any format, adaptation in any format, translation, reproduction, distribution or sale of such content and waives the right to file against GN or its related companies any type of claim or request for indemnification or compensation. At the same time, the user authorizes GN to exercise its moral rights.

Any use not expressly authorized in this document will be deemed not permitted. When GN offers free services through its platforms, a disclaimer dialog box will appear stating that the content that the user sends using the platform is the user's responsibility and that any claim or demand that a third party presents to GN will be attributed to the user. In the event of an administrative or judicial claim or complaint involving GN, GN reserves the right to provide both the injured third party and the administrative or judicial bodies with the user's information, including the IP address of the computer from which the inappropriate or illegal message or content was sent.

Debate on topics of public interest on our pages is welcome, as long as it respects the right of others to express their opinions and to dissent. If users display inappropriate behavior that offends third parties or a community of users, GN may immediately remove, adapt or edit such content, without this implying any claim or compensation on the part of the user who submitted the content. GN may remove content that is offensive, defamatory, libelous, slanderous, obscene, pornographic or that violates morality and good customs.

GN may delete text messages, blogs, chats, forums, letters, opinion articles, etc. that contain discriminatory, unpleasant, abusive, mocking, threatening, homophobic, xenophobic, libelous, slanderous, defamatory, pornographic, sexist content, that seek to create stereotypes between groups of the population, that contain personal attacks, in favor of war and any apology for national, racial or religious hatred, that constitute incitement to violence or any other similar illegal action against any person or group of people, that infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties, or that are repetitive, contain junk mail or "spam" in favor of a person, entity or business, for the purpose of promoting goods or services, that contain viruses, or coding that may interrupt, destroy, limit or bring down the systems implemented by GN.

In the event of such violations, at the request of a party or ex officio, GN will reveal the information of the user who submitted the content through its platforms and will delete the records.

If a user sends, by any means, in any format, current or future, any type of content, this does not imply that GN is obliged to upload, distribute or publish it if, in its sole discretion, the content may affect the rights of third parties, of GN or contravene the rules specified above regarding the characteristics of the content that may be uploaded or posted. Upon acceptance of the content, the user authorizes GN to make the material appear and be posted on its pages for the rest of the users, who will be obliged to request authorization to use it. The user authorizes GN to use it without the right to any economic or other type of compensation. GN may eliminate it at any time it deems appropriate or is authorized to edit, adapt, create derivative works, distribute, reproduce, translate, license, assign or sell it, if necessary, without this implying any claim, indemnity or compensation of any kind.

GN reserves the right to charge a fee or rate in colones or other legal currency, at any time, for having full or partial access to the content of its sites. In the event that GN decides to charge for accessing its content, it will establish subscription procedures, through which users will be informed and notified of such condition, and each user must register and expressly accept this charge, for which they must have a password or access code. The charge will be made according to the type of subscription purchased, all of which will be expressly stated in the Terms and Conditions or Subscription Contract.

The user accepts the jurisdiction of the Costa Rican courts and laws to resolve any conflict that arises by virtue of the use of GN websites.
